Mount Rubidoux makes for a popular hike in Riverside California. Its is part of a city park, with a paved trail leading to the summit, providing great views of the surrounding area. It’s a great little hike, but very popular, so get there early if you want to find a parking spot on a weekend morning.

I headed out for a morning hike while on a family vacation, and was lucky to nab a parking spot amidst hikers and little leaguers. I then made my way up San Andreas Avenue to the park entrance.

There is a nice paved trail leading up the mountain, but with enough incline for a good workout.

Further up, I got a good view of Rattlesnake Mountain, which I’d hiked earlier in the week.

Crowds thinned as I neared the top, which is home to an impressive cross.

On the way down, I took the backside trail, which passes under this neat walkway and tower.

Map of my route. Just over 3 miles and 500' elevation gain round trip, in 1 hour of hiking.
