Goldburg Point
Elevation 6650'
The Pahsimeroi Valley of eastern Idaho is a great place for views and solitude. With the Lost River Range on one side, and the Lemhi Range on the other, the valley is a great vantage point to soak in views of the surrounding high peaks. And with no paved roads for miles, solitude is a theme. Toward the middle of all this, is the small unnamed Peak 6650’, which I’ve dubbed “Goldburg Point”. I guess this would be considered the Lemhi foothills. This little peak makes for any easy hike thanks to an old two-track jeep trail leading to its summit.

I was in the area climbing larger mountains, and had time in the afternoon for a quick hike. After crisscrossing the valley using various dirt roads, I arrived at the southeast corner of the mountain, and stared hiking up the steep jeep trail.

From the top of the first rise, it was a more level hike across the "ridge" leading to the highpoint.

Summit view of the Lost River Range to the south, Leatherman Pass in the center, DoubleSpring Pass more to the right.

Summit view north toward the northern Lemhi's.

Several cactus in bloom on the mountain.

Map of my route. 2 miles and 450' elevation gain round trip, in 35 minutes of fast hiking to beat the rainclouds.
