Rattlesnake Mountain
Elevation 5011'
Rattlesnake Mountain is located on the southeast edge of Reno Nevada, and makes for a nice hike that is accessible year-round. The Huffaker Hills trailhead provides easy access and a service road leads to the highpoint. The summit provides nice views of the surrounding area, and is a good place to watch airplanes taking off and landing at the Reno airport.

I was looking for a quick morning hike while my wife slept in during a little road trip we were taking. Rattlesnake ended up being a great choice. Here’s a view from just after the trailhead.

Access is via a service road, that gets a little steeper below the summit, but not too bad.

Nearing the summit.

Airport beacon on the summit of Rattlesnake Mountain.

I watched a couple airplanes land before I headed back down.

Map of my route. Just under 2 miles and 400' elevation gain round trip, in a leisurely 45 minutes of hiking.
